The following was written by former Missionary to the Philippines Jimmy Walker:
Pastor Genesis Faith Mirano graduated from BMA Bible College of the Philippines in 2018. Since that time he has worked diligently in the neighborhoods of Barangay (brgy) 15 , a poor area in the city of Talisay and home to his sending church, Open Door Baptist Church.
For the past two years, Genesis has been faithful to meet with families in their homes to do evangelism, conduct Bible studies and disciple those who have come to faith in Christ. Using his own money, he provides meals for needy families and makes sure the children have a snack during their children’s outreach on Saturdays.
During the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic Genesis continues to minister to the people of Brgy 15. Although Covid restrictions have kept them from meeting in groups, Genesis types and prints his weekly messages and delivers them to each home so that people can continue to hear from God’s Word. Over the past two years, we have been able to coordinate and bring VBS and BMMI teams and gospel film showings to Brgy 15. These events have really solidified Genesis’s influence in the community.
Genesis’ hope and prayer for the future is to establish a vibrant, gospel preaching church in Brgy 15 to reach every resident in that area.
Please pray with him for the following:
– that the pandemic and restrictions would ease
– that more people would come to faith in Christ
– that Genesis would be able to disciple more new believers and teach them how to disciple others
– that a church would be established in Brgy 15
