Leading is Not About Winning
May 27, 2022What is Our Motivation?
May 31, 2022The following was written by Regional Coordinator (Latin America) David Dickson.
Hector Rios and his wife Blondy serve as our national missionaries in the country of Nicaragua. This young man was recently ordained by the mother church of the two missions he leads. That mother church in La Esperanza, Nicaragua, is pastored by Brother Hector’s his father-in-law Farintong Zúniga. (Zuniga was one of the first converts of missionary David Dickson in the 70s.)
Bro. Hector’s ministry is on the Atlantic side of the country of Nicaragua, an area with very little infrastructure. Our churches and missions are scattered in hard to reach locations, many accessible only by boat, horseback or on foot. Hector leads two mission congregations, one in Walpapigni and the other in El Tortuguero. The mission in El Tortuguero is located near the jungle river where we have several preaching points. Hopefully the mission here will develop into a “sending church” for several new works along the banks of the river.
Hector and Blondy are both excited about the prospects of the missions in their area. They were “city dwellers” before moving to Walpapigni, so they are learning to live without many of the modern conveniences most of us take for granted. Both of them are thriving in their new environment. We expect to hear great things about these two ChangeMakers and the missions in the months ahead.
