Focused on Missions

By Joe Owens, Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church

Before I surrendered to the ministry, my pastor, Brother Buddy Johnson, once told me, “Churches will focus on missions only if their pastor focuses on missions.” I remembered those words when I became the pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church in Magnolia Arkansas.

I try to get every missionary I can to speak at Macedonia whenever I can. Although Macedonia is a small congregation, I want our people to be able to put a face and a family with our missionaries.

There is another reason for keeping missions on the mind of our people: I want them to start to think of all Baptist Missionary Association (BMA) missionaries as our missionaries. I try to keep the church informed about mission works in Arkansas, America, and all over the world. I love how some of the church members keep up with our missionaries on social media.

World Missions Day is another opportunity for our churches to help our missionaries share the love of Jesus Christ with their neighbors all over the world.
